Why Pepper Spray?
We are focused on giving women free pepper spray for a number of reasons:
It heightens awareness.
To us, the most important reason to carry pepper spray is as a constant reminder to stay aware. Seeing it on your keyring as you walk to your car reminds you to look around, look between cars and pay attention to your surroundings.
In our opinion this is more likely to keep you safe than relying on it as a weapon.
It's a non-lethal weapon.
No matter how tempting attacking the assailant may sound, it's far more important to get away safely. Leave capture and punishment to the professionals.
So, if you use it, use it to get away.
The active ingredient in pepper spray is oleoresin capsicum (OC), a spicy chemical derived from burning-hot cayenne pepper plants. The Pepper Spray we give away is a 18% OC spray combined with CS gas.
Pepper spray swells the mucous membranes, making breathing difficult, and swells the veins in the eyes, causing the eyes to close. These effects can last up to 45 minutes and cause no permanent damage.
Our pepper spray also contains an identifying vegetable dye so that the police can identify your attacker later. Remember, your first priority is to get away.
Our giveaway pepper sprays are legal to carry in most states. Some states have strength or formulation laws that prohibit our new stronger pepper spray - detailed on our free pepper spray page.
Our sprays are small - like a lipstick - and come with a keychain attachment to keep it in your hand when you may need it most - walking to or from your car. It has a quick release locking actuator so that it is a) safe and b) quick to fire.
We don't make any profit when we sell our giveaway pepper sprays which makes them the most affordable self-defense tool there is. That's not an insignificant reason when you consider there are 158+ million women that we want to give a pepper spray to!
